EMS Division
In 1971, the City of Greenfield partnered with Hancock County, Indiana to establish a much needed ambulance service. In 1983, the Greenfield Fire Department was the first in Hancock County to create an Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) service allowing for the pre-hospital care of critically ill and injured citizens. Today, the Emergency Medical Services Division provides basic and advanced life support services to the citizens of the Greenfield Fire Territory and the eastern most townships of Hancock County. Last year, Greenfield Fire Territory ambulances transported over 3000 sick and injured people to area hospitals.
Three advanced life support ambulances and three non-transport advanced life support apparatus, allow for the most advanced care in a timely fashion for our citizens. In addition, the E.M.S. division oversees a State of Indiana Certified Basic Training Institution, which allow us to teach lifesaving skills to future Emergency Medical Technicians. All Greenfield Fire personnel are trained to a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician with 26 certified to the Paramedic level. Two personnel have tactical emergency medical services training which supports the Hancock County Joint Tactical Team (S.W.A.T.).
The E.M.S. division is dedicated to giving the best care for the citizens and visitors whom we serve.
