Welcome to the Fire Investigation Division


The Fire Investigation Unit is headed up by Fire Marshal Steve Kropacek who has over 25 years of experience.

Our Mission:

The Fire Investigation Unit is dedicated to determining the origin and cause of fires, ensuring community safety, and providing critical investigative services.

Fire Investigation

The Greenfield Fire Territory investigates all fires in our response area and assists neighboring departments. Greenfield Fire Territory works closely with our law enforcement partners to solve all crimes involving arson or insurance fraud.

Requesting Fire Investigation Reports

If you need a copy of the National Fire Incident Report System (NFIRS) report, an Origin and Cause Report, or require additional information on an investigation, please complete the Request for Reports form and email it to the Fire Prevention Division at skropacek@greenfieldin.org. You may also contact the division via phone at 317-325-1505.

Providing Information on a Fire

Community involvement is crucial in fire investigations. If you have any information regarding a fire, please email the Fire Prevention Division at skropacek@greenfieldin.org or call 317-325-1505.

Submitting Security Footage

If you have a doorbell camera or security footage that may be relevant to an ongoing fire investigation, please send the footage to skropacek@greenfieldin.org. Your cooperation and assistance can help us determine the cause and prevent future incidents.

Comprehensive Plan Open House
