DEFINITION:

NON-COMMERCIAL OPINION SIGNS A sign which does not advertise products, goods, businesses, or services and which expresses an opinion or point of view, such as a student achievement announcement, a political, religious, or other ideological sentiment, or support or opposition to a candidate or proposition for a public election.

 

SUMMARY of REGULATIONS FOR OPINION SIGNS

 SIZE:

No permit required if less than 9 sq ft.

Permit required if between 9 and 12 sq ft. (maximum)

Cost of permit for sign over 9 sq ft = $15 per sign

No more than 3 ft in height

Non-illuminated


LOCATION:

 5 ft inside property line

Not allowed on public property

Not allowed on commercial property


NUMBER OF SIGNS:

 2 per year per residential property except 30 days prior and 5 days after an election # of signs can be equal to # of offices and issues on the ballot.

After 6 months shall be considered a permanent sign and subject to ordinance regulations
