Overview and Functions
The Department of Engineering and Planning performs the following functions and services:
- Review development and erosion control plans.
- Plan and administer new public works projects.
- Review permit requests for new construction, remodeling and accessory uses.
- Conduct zoning compliance inspections.

Inspection of construction of buildings and public works.

Function as staff for Advisory Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Historic Board of Review.

Administer compliance with State of Indiana requirements for grants, Indiana Main Street, and Stormwater maintenance.

Issues occupancy, improvement, sign, demolition, and right-of-way cut permits.
