Built in 1853, the Old Log Jail served as the third county jail until 1874. This building was originally located on the south side of the public square in downtown Greenfield, south of where the present-day County Courthouse lies.

The Old Log Jail was moved in 1967 to its present location at the southeast corner of Riley Park, near the intersection of U.S. 40 and Apple Street. The building now serves as a museum of early pioneer life in Hancock County, and is maintained by the Hancock County Historical Society.  For information about museum hours and special tours, please call the Historical Society at 317-462-7780.
